Windshield damage is one of the most common auto claims we face and, thankfully, one of the easiest to fix. Did you know if you carry comprehensive coverage, most insurance companies will repair small chips or cracks for free? These quick repairs prevent the crack from spreading, which is why carriers encourage fixing them right away.

But, when the crack is larger or affects your visibility, you’ll likely need a full replacement. In those cases, your deductible applies, and your insurer will use trusted repair partners like Safelite or another certified glass shop. They handle the appointment, the paperwork, and the claim so the process is simple and fast.

One thing to keep in mind is OEM glass. Original manufacturer glass isn’t always covered unless you have a specific OEM endorsement. Most policies default to high-quality aftermarket glass because it’s more cost-effective.

The good news? Whether it’s a quick repair or a full replacement, glass claims are easy and quick so you can get back on the road safely. If you’re ever unsure what your policy covers, I’m happy to walk you through it.
